French Connection - tutored wine-
tasting event
in the Wringbrook House barn in Station Road,
Wrington, was the brainchild of Twinning
Association committee member, John Urquhart.
His most recent visit to Villeneuve-lès-Béziers in
November, 2012, was as a representative of the
Wrington Branch of the Royal British Legion at
the Remembrance activities of their opposite
numbers in Villeneuve. On that occasion he had
received an honour from his fellow veterans,
cemented friendships .... and renewed his
acquaintance with the local wines.
Hence he was uniquely qualified to arrange what
proved to be a delightful evening for 40 or so
local Wrington oenophiles discovering some of
the delights offered by the Languedoc region.
Four tables, staffed by members of the Twinning
Association committee, helped participants to a
taste of the range of wines listed on the left.
Having thanked John and Pat Ledbury for their
hospitality in hosting the event in such
appropriately atmospheric surroundings, John
elicited from the assembled bibbers which wines
had been their favourites from the four tables,
concluding with an overall red and a white Wine
of the Evening.
One pleasing additional result of the evening was
the recruiting of some more welcome members.
