www.wrington.net             Cllr David Glynn                                Leslie Forrest                                    Echo Irving          Parish Council Chairman                   CPRE Avonside            Immediate past Chairwoman Parish Council Before the start of the December meeting of Wrington Parish Council, Chairman Cllr David Glynn and Echo Irving received the certificate of Wrington’s award from CPRE Avonside as Village of the Year 2011 in the Large Village section. In presenting the certificate and a cheque for £50, Leslie Forrest, organiser of the VOTY competition, said the judges had spoken to villagers at a coffee morning in the Reading Room, and to others in the Memorial Hall and SIlver Street. What they had heard confirmed the accuracy of everything which had been claimed for the village in the application. The judges picked out Hannah More Close and SIlver Street for special mention for their attractive appearance. Previously judges had been almost exclusively concerned with how well-kept a village looks, but this year their brief extended to assessing how successfully the village conducts itself as a community overall. .
