Plan C for the Spring Fete 2012 works a treat
After many days of torrential rain, which made any field venue impossible to use, Wrington Fair
Committee decided on Plan B - to use the car parks of the Sports & Social Club and the Bowls
Club at the Rec.
With a dire forecast the evening before, which threatened potentially intolerable conditions, not
only for stallholders, but also for those attending, Plan C was resorted to - once again made
possible by that old faithful village standby, the Memorial Hall.
Everyone involved, both in re-jigging the organisation of the event at the 11th hour, and in
squeezing their stalls into a packed hall, deserves a commemorative medal at least as much as
any Olympic athlete. A view probaly shared by the great number of people who came, and once
again, were able to make full use of that inevitable topic of English conversation - the weather -
when they weren’t admiring the grit and determination of all who ensured this didn’t turn out to be
.. ‘the year the fete was rained off.’
For anyone wanting to know more about that jolly player organ which greeted them in the Memorial Hall carpark ...
