Many of us in the wider community, and the congregation, want to
see our church continue as a place in which to hold regular worship,
as well as weddings, funerals, the celebration of Remembrance
Sunday and so on - when we are allowed after Covid. And just as a
village needs a church, a church needs an organ.
Our organ in All Saints’ is a fine instrument with an excellent acoustic,
and has proved popular with visiting musicians. Sadly however, it
fails from time to time and is in urgent need of repair.
We have arranged for a reputable firm to carry out the works
necessary to ensure continued and improved performance of the
organ for this and future generations. The works are scheduled to be
carried out this autumn and are estimated to cost c. £50,000
(including a provision for any ‘unknowns’ which appear when it has
been dismantled).
The Parochial Church Council, as Trustees of the Lawder legacy, and
others, have underwritten part of the likely cost and the PCC is
seeking further funds from the congregation, from grant-making
bodies, and from the wider Wrington community.
We had hoped to be able to announce an event or two to raise funds,
and to celebrate the completion of the works. At present we are
unable to do so with any certainty because of the lockdown, but we are sure that we will be celebrating in the
church with the villlage when it is all done. If you would like further information about the organ, the proposed works,
or how we are going to manage this, please contact David Marsh (details below).
In any event we hope that you will kindly confirm your support , and help - thank you.
