Trinity Singers Concert 12th November 2016 St Mary’s Church, Yatton Trinity Singers, based in Churchill, are proud to present Cantate Domino, a varied programme of English and Italian Baroque music, at St Mary’s Church, Yatton, on Saturday 12th November, 7.30pm. For this exciting concert the choir is joined by Bristol Brass Consort and Claire Alsop, organist at St Mary Redcliffe, Bristol. Music in the concert reflects the rich span of Baroque style, and includes the exuberant vigour of Handel’s ever-popular Zadok the Priest, the sumptuous dark harmonies of Purcell’s Hear My Prayer, his Funeral Sentences and the Crucifixus of Lotti, and the magnificence of Gabrieli’s O magnum mysterium and In ecclesiis. Join Trinity Singers and friends for some gorgeous music, and experience just how far music journeyed in this seminal period. Admission for under 18s is FREE when accompanied by a paying adult.                                                                                                           ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Yatton Music Society Clare Hammond – Concert Pianist at St Mary’s, Yatton, 22nd October. The Yatton Music Society welcome the return of the brilliant pianist Clare Hammond who stunned us with her performance in 2014. Acclaimed as a pianist of “amazing power and panache” (The Telegraph), Clare Hammond is recognised for the virtuosity and authority of her performances and is developing a “reputation for brilliantly imaginative concert programmes” (BBC Music Magazine, ‘Rising Star’). The Guardian described her as a “dazzling athlete” following her Barbican debut in 2015. Clare’s film debut in Nick Hytner’s new Alan Bennett adaptation, ‘The Lady in the Van’, was released in November 2015. Clare played ‘Miss Shepherd’ as the younger piano playing version of Dame Maggie Smith’s character, Her programme for our concert will include music by Bach, Mozart, Medtner finishing dramatically with Stravinsky’s Petroushka. She will also play music by Robert Saxton specially written for her. This is a prestigious event for the Society and will be financially supported by Yatton Parish Council. The concert on 22nd October starts at 7.30 p.m. at St Mary’s Church, Yatton. Ticket prices £8 members, £10 nonmembers. Tickets can be obtained from the Church office or on the door on the night.
