Wrington Drum Circle TOKENDE DRUMMING Drumming and percussion group workshops with teacher, composer and performing artist Alphonse Daudet Touna Great fun and creative energy Every first Saturday in the month 10am-12pm URC Chapel Price: £10
Alphonse is a musician, composer, music teacher and musical instrument maker creating an original blend of music provided by the totally unique sound of the Balafon and other percussion instruments including the African Djembe drum. We now hold a monthly drumming workshop, normally in the URC Chapel Hall, on a Saturday morning 10am-12pm. All the instruments used during the workshop sessions are provided, but if you prefer, you can bring your own. Each session costs £10 and is open to all comers, whether you have any music, drum or percussion experience or not. The group that attend are a mix of all ages and have great fun exploring different rhythms and sounds from different countries, mainly Africa and South America which are then pieced together to compose short musical pieces. In the past, the group performed one of the composed pieces at the Wrington Dickensian Christmas Fair which was much enjoyed by the performers and those who attended the event. The drumming workshops are a great way to learn new skills in music, relax and meet up with friends for a couple of hours, and to enjoy making music together. If you would like to come along, you are more than welcome. For more information please don't hesitate to contact Phil Neve
