The concert, by the Dante String Quartet, Daniel Tong, piano, and  John Tattetsdill, double bass, was the brilliant idea of Judith Kinsman to mark the occasion of Philip’s special birthday, thereby satisfying one of his keen musical interests, and making excellent use of the new facilities in All Saints’ church. Philip has served All Saints’ tirelessly over many years as tower captain and instructor of young ringers. He has always been ready with good and practical advice on the upkeep of the building and churchyard, and most recently was a crucial member of the team tasked with the renovations to the building. It was Philip’s suggestion that the ceiling bosses which grace the chancel ceiling should be restored and re-gilded. This was made possible by the money he raised by inviting donations from the congregation in memory of loved ones. Those who attended found tables of food and drinks waiting them and the opportunity to mingle before the start of the music at 8pm, and again during the interval.
The final bow Philip's thanks to the players - on behalf of all present
