Visits & hospitality

On Sunday we went to see the mediaeval town of Pézénas, again accompanied by the mayor and some
members of the twinning committee. In the afternoon we visited the excellent sandy beach at Sérignan-plage,
which is a popular destination for those wishing to avoid the more commercial attractions of other resorts.
The surrounding environment, although rather flat, has particular ecological and wildlife interest centred on
the lagoon. This was followed by a visit to the communal facilities in the village, including the large village hall
/ function room and the playing fields.
At various times during the visit we met the different members of the twinning committee, including M.Jean-
Claude Caravaca is co-Chairman of the local caves co-operative. The cave is among the many producers of
vastly improved wine in this region, which is where the value lies in France today. He has said they will be
delighted to entertain visitors from Wrington to the premises, where they can taste the wines, see the
vineyards and of course make purchases.
Jean-Claude also chairs the Foyer Rural, a kind of Rural Activities group, which, through him, will arrange
accommodation, visits, walks, and cycle rides including procuring the bikes. Other members we met included
the president of the rugby club, M.Jean-Paul Falguière, and M.Yves Benoit, a journalist and historian of the
region. We hope they will visit Wrington later in the year.
